MFAILC Based Density Balance Control for Freeway and Auxiliary Road System

Abstract : In this paper, a model-free adaptive iterative learning control (MFAILC) based density balance control scheme to solve the traffic resource wasting problem is proposed. Only the measurement input/output (I/O) data of the controlled plant are used which solves the nonlinear and time-varying parameter uncertainties of the freeway and auxiliary road system. Furthermore, the repetitiveness was used from the traffic process by iterative learning control method. Through rigorous analysis, it is shown that the MFAILC method could deal with this class of control problem and greatly improve the traffic response. In addition, the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed approach are further verified through case studies with intensive simulations.
